Dry-type Transformer

Dry Type

A dry-type transformer is an electrical transformer in which the core and windings are not immersed in insulating liquid. Instead, the transformer uses solid insulation and air-based cooling. IEC 60076-11 specifically defines dry-type transformers this way and covers dry-type power transformers within its stated voltage scope.

The BDACEE Family 03 Dry-Type Transformer is a three-phase cast-resin, oil-free distribution transformer designed for applications where fire safety, environmental performance, compact installation, low maintenance and reliable power quality are important. The product uses vacuum casting/vacuum-pressure impregnation technology, foil-winding equipment and silicon-steel core processing, with technical performance specified against GB 1094, GB/T 10228, GB 6450 and IEC 60076-11.

The product is positioned for industrial facilities, commercial buildings, high-rise buildings, hotels, airports, railway stations, high-speed rail, subways, stadiums, petrochemical facilities, offshore platforms, mining and other fire-sensitive or environmentally demanding installations.

Specifications

he transformer is available with AN (Air Natural) and AF (Air Forced) cooling, allowing the equipment to operate with natural air convection under normal conditions and, where specified, with forced-air cooling using fans to provide additional thermal capacity. The BDACEE product family is designed for high-voltage applications up to 33/35 kV and low-voltage configurations including 400 V and 433 V, with the exact primary and secondary voltage selected according to the electrical network and project requirements. The transformer is manufactured using advanced production technologies including vacuum casting/vacuum-pressure impregnation, foil-winding technology and silicon-steel core processing, supporting stable electrical performance, mechanical strength and insulation reliability.

The dry-type transformer family is designed in accordance with GB 1094, GB/T 10228, GB 6450 and IEC 60076-11, with the applicable standard and certification requirements to be confirmed according to the destination country, utility specification and project requirements. The transformer incorporates a silicon-steel magnetic core and can be configured with wire-wound or foil-wound windings, depending on the selected design and application. The cast-resin insulation system provides strong mechanical and electrical protection for the windings, while the oil-free construction eliminates the need for transformer-oil management during normal operation. The transformer is designed with low partial discharge, low noise, low losses, high short-circuit withstand capability and comprehensive temperature protection and control.

More Detail

The dry-type transformer is designed for a broad range of applications, including industrial factories, commercial buildings, high-rise buildings, hotels, airports, railway stations, high-speed rail systems, subways, stadiums, petrochemical facilities, offshore platforms, mining operations, renewable-energy projects and other installations where fire safety, environmental performance and reliable power supply are important. Its compact construction allows the transformer to be installed close to the load centre, potentially reducing the distance between the transformer and downstream electrical distribution equipment. The oil-free cast-resin design is particularly advantageous for indoor electrical rooms and locations where the use of oil-filled electrical equipment may introduce additional fire-protection or environmental considerations.

The transformer can be supplied with a comprehensive technical documentation package according to the project requirements, including the technical datasheet, general-arrangement drawing, wiring and connection diagram, transformer nameplate, compliance declaration, routine test report, applicable type-test documentation, installation and maintenance instructions, temperature-control documentation, factory inspection documentation and warranty documentation. For utility, industrial and international projects, the final technical specification should be reviewed against the customer's electrical system, local regulations, applicable IEC/GB standards and utility requirements before manufacturing.
